Hi, my name is Gwenan! I was born in Carmarthen and grew up near Cardigan in West Wales. I am now living and working in London as a theatre Director and Stage Manager and am also an Associate Artist for BolSHE, a creative collective for Welsh and Wales-based women.
I originally trained in musical theatre and worked for while as an actor after graduating. During that time I realised that although I enjoyed being onstage, I found what I loved most was the rehearsal process, and the opportunity it gives to try new things, workshop ideas and craft something. I was lucky enough to work with the Bread and Roses Theatre in 2018 as their Emerging Director and have since worked across many of London’s fringe venues as a Director, Stage Manager and Operator.
My work is largely driven by the want to use theatre and story to explore human relationships and connection both onstage and off, and I have really fallen in love with the world of new writing. I am also very interested in new musical theatre, and am currently a co-Artistic Director for Stage Splinters, a company that specialises in developing new musicals.
My directing credits include Maisie at the Bread and Roses Theatre (4* Broadway World); Existential Fish and Dread for the same venue (4.5* Within Her Words, 4* London Pub Theatres) and Other – Please Explain for the Park Theatre’s Script Accelerator program. My assistant director credits include Romeo and Juliet (a filmed theatrical production for Metcalfe Gordon Productions); Love, Genius and a Walk (Theatro Technis); Macbeth – the Musical (The White Bear Theatre) and It Tastes Like Home (Bread and Roses Theatre).
My Stage Manager and Operator credits include Love, Genius and a Walk (Theatro Technis); Dissociated (Etcetera Theatre); Cuttings and Little Echoes (The Hope Theatre); Illusions of Liberty (Kings Head Theatre/Applecart Arts) and As We Unravel (The Bread and Roses).
I’m always looking to connect and collaborate, so please don’t hesitate to get in touch on firstname.lastname@example.org.
Looking forward to hearing from you!
